Advantages & Disadvantages online library compared to brick and mortar library.

Nowadays, many works have been done by using online systems. For examples, people will not have to queue at the bank to make their transfer payment, bay bills and so on. They just need to have an internet network connection to settle down their works. It is same goes to the library system. Programmers have been developed new systems that it is known as online library instead of using brick and mortar library. Online library give many advantages and also disadvantages as compared to brick and mortar library. The advantages that we can get by using online library are online library offers flexibility in term of time. We can complete or do our works, assignments, or researches in anytime and anywhere we want. This is because; we can do our research or searching any information 24 hours a day without limitations. We don’t have to walk or drive to the library to find something because online libraries are available at the user's fingertips.

Moreover, online library is easily searchable. When we want or don’t understand on something, we can try to search it by using online library. Even though it gives many answers, but we can choose one that is suitable to our works. We just need to type the keyword that we want. Then, the system will help us to find according to the keyword we just entered. Moreover, we always feel difficult to find any word of phrase in any articles, newspapers, or journals. By using online library, we can just simply typing the word and it will help us to find where it is located. This also can save our time from being wasted because of we have to read all the articles, journals, newspapers from page to page. 

Online library also give advantages to us in term of formatting. This is because; we can see that at the real library there having many books, magazines, journals and so on with many font style and size. Sometimes, not all people can stand with that font size and style. Maybe for them, the font is too small and make them having difficulties to read faster and also to understand what they were reading. It is contra when we are using online library because all the sources that we want we can download it and we also can change what type or font size that we like it to be. We also can change the color of the text and we can brighten or dim our computer screen for our comfortable reading.

Other advantages using online library are online library is more clean compared to brick and mortar library. This is because; all books, articles, newspapers and magazines are stored in the online database and we will not have to worry about the dust at these reading resources. Other than that, online library will never let our hand be dirty by ink from the paper. We also do not have to worry about the number of resources. If we use brick and mortar library, we have to wait for the books if those books have been borrowed by other person. While online library, we don’t have to wait and for sure we can get the books anytime we need it.

Even though there are many advantages on using online library, but they also give several disadvantages to us. For instance, as a student when we know that all resources can be found fast and easily we will always postponed our works until the day of the submission. This will give bad habit to all students where they will continue this habit when they go for works. Other than that, online library need more cost in term of implementation and services. The owner has to pay for the programmer with huge money to develop this system. The owner also has to pay huge money to maintain the system. For the security, online library need more security compared to offline library. This is because, nowadays we know that online system is exposing to danger for example hack, cookies, malware, virus and many more. In conclusion, online library give many advantages and also disadvantages to us. It is depend on us on how we use it.
